The inspiration for Swift
In our pre-Swift lives we worked for international organisations across aerospace, automotive, logistics and healthcare to streamline operations, boost productivity and save money.
We witnessed first-hand the negative impact of silo culture, where communication between departments was non-existent. We worked alongside management teams bombarded with problems, absent of solutions, and shop floor workers whose ideas remained unspoken due to the ‘what’s the point, they never listen’ mantra.
On the other hand there were organisations where everyone, regardless of rank or role, was empowered to contribute, where people felt heard, valued and supported through ongoing skills and knowledge development.
The impact of each approach was evident from shop floor right through to senior management and ultimately the bottom line. One typically resulted in high staff turnover, low morale and daily firefighting and the other delivered a wealth of loyalty, productivity and profit as natural outputs.
